Other Ministries

The City Rescue Mission (CRM) of New Castle provides spiritual and physical care to the hurting, hungry, and hopeless in the community. EBM gives donated items that cannot be used in UMCOR kits to CRM to be given to those they serve.

Highland House
The Highland House, Inc. (HH) is a rehabilitation center in New Castle, which works with women in recovery. These women are offered the opporuntity to volunteer at EMB as a way to “give back” to the community. Since 2009, HH volunteers have contributed over 10,000 hours of labor to verify UMCOR kits, build modular access ramps, clean up after area flooding, and improve the EMB facility.

United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) is a short-term mission sending agency of the United Methodist Church who aid Christians in mission service both at home and abroad. EMB partners with UMVIM teams. In 2014, EMB coordinated and supervised the work of a VIM team from Franklin District, which replaced the roofs of 2 New Castle homes, as well as completed minor repairs on 9 other homes.

The Western Pennsylvania (WPA) Conference of The United Methodist Church (UMC) serves as a connection between the worldwide UMC and the 800 local churches in the WPA region. Although EMB is not an official agency of the WPA Conference, EMB coordinates UMCOR kit collection and disaster response with the conference. Occassionally, grants for specific projects at EMB are awarded by the WPA Conference as well.

His Hands MInistry
His Hands Ministry (HHM), a partnership between the Lawrence County Community Action Partnership and the Greater New Castle Ministerial Alliance, provides home repairs for elderly, disabled, and low income residents of the Lawrence County area. Where ramps are needed, EMB provides design and construction services, and often supervises youth involved with the building.

LIFE (Living Independence for the Elderly) is in both Butler and Lawrence Counties. LIFE’s goal is to keep elderly, and sometimes disabled, people in their homes. Where ramps are needed, EMB works with LIFE to build ramps.

PA 211
PA 211 is a statewide system for health and human service information. It connects PA residents with disaster, community, health, and housing services. They refer disaster response survivors to EMB, who then coordinates clean-up/fix-up projects with area VIM teams.
